Job Summary 

As an Electrical Engineer on the Product Team serving as a Principal Product Engineer you will be both deeply technical and broadly impactful at Millennium Space Systems. You will be looked up to as a role-model for a culture of continuous improvement and mentorship while maintaining excellence across products you lead. The product engineering role is a hybrid of electrical engineering and project management which holds accountability for avionics hardware products across integrated product teams spanning electronics, software, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and other disciplines. 

A successful Principal Product Engineer will drive development cycles of new products and sustaining products while reducing complexity and improving manufacturability, ensuring designs mature technical readiness levels. They will utilize their deep technical knowledge to see the bigger picture of avionics hardware and advocate for the success of the product. 

This position’s internal job code is Product Review Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for level range of 5 - 6. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Single point of contact for avionics hardware products 

    • Lead integrated product teams spanning disciplines and departments 

    • Maintain accountability of technical development, budget, and schedule across products 

    • Technical Point of Contact for programs & systems engineers 

    • Communicate and advocate for products 

  • Reduce design cycle time 

    • Driving integrated product team design cycles to facilitate iteration speed 

    • Identify and measure key performance indicators 

    • Improve on-time delivery rate of products 

  • Production expertise for avionics products 

    • Increase first pass yield of products 

    • Reduce discrepancy report lifetime 

    • Lead design for manufacturing initiatives for PCB/PCBA electro-mechanical avionics boxes 

    • Lead SMC-S-016 based acceptance and qualification programs ensuring product workmanship and design margin 

  • Mentor to other Product Engineers 

    • Provide technical development mentorship to peer Product engineers across project management, development, and manufacturing skillsets 

    • Ensure peer teams have technical and managerial guidance for product development workflows 

    • Maintain and expand a culture that values accountability, respect, and constant learning. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering 

  • 10+ years developing and manufacturing electromechanical assemblies 

    • Extensive knowledge of PCB/PCBA development, manufacturing, and testing 

  • Proficiency with Altium Designer or similar electrical design tools 

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills 

    • Ability to lead through influence 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance 

  • Schematic design and PCB layout experience in at least one of the following sub-specialties 

    • Analog mixed-signal, power conversion, computing, communications 

  • Prior experience leading integrated product teams for space qualified hardware 

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay-Range

  • Level 5: $154,700 - $227,500
  • Level 6: $187,000 - $275,000
