Job Summary
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of fabrication, integration and test of space flight systems and support equipment. This role will require the ability to work the first or second shift depending on business needs.
This position’s internal job code is Spacecraft Mechanical Technician Sr. Our team is currently hiring for grade 24.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assemble, install, test, checkout and inspect mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings and specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures. • Perform second party verifications and visually inspect mechanical assemblies to drawings, engineering specifications, and written assembly, integration, and test procedures. • Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lift equipment, flight vehicle and sub-assembly transportation equipment, truck/tractor trailer combinations and other GSE as required. • Travel required to support operations identified by program being supported. • Capable of operating a wide range of machine tools. Included but not limited to, drill press, grinders, chop saw, power, and hand tools. • Interfaces and/or works closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement and Shipping personnel on procedural issues involving design, methods, tooling, cost, and other areas involved in the control of product quality. • Support in other mechanical areas defined by Millennium Space Systems Leadership as business needs require. • Delegated inspection authority on all 2PV processes. • Cross-train/mentor new hires.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical or propulsion assembly on high reliability products (preferably aerospace products) • High School Diploma/GED. • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, internal and external specifications. • Experience using inspection tooling (e.g. calipers, micrometers, DMM, depth gauges, etc.) • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail. • Ability to lift-up to 35 lbs. • Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and assembly. • Experience with using various hand and power tools. • Experience mixing epoxy materials. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and assembly
5+ years of machine shop experience
5+ years of integration experience
2+ years performing orbital tube welding in aerospace
Experience working in a clean room environment

Summary Pay-Range
Grade 24: $27.32/hr - $43.73/hr
