Job Summary
As the Autonomy Engineering Team Lead (ETL), you will be the primary point of contact for technical, budget, and resource allocation to meet team member needs, customer requirements, program needs, and company goals. You will set the engineering standard for the team, define roles and responsibilities, establish processes/workflow, and facilitate mentorship and training by Autonomy Engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You will ensure that programs are adequately staffed and program objectives are met on time and on budget. You will be involved in forecasting future staffing needs based on the new business pipeline, and you will work side-by-side with Millennium Recruiting to build the team at all experience levels. You will coordinate Internal Research and Development (IRAD) and process/tool improvement initiatives with subject matter experts, and coordinate heavily with other subsystem and vehicle experts to tie the fault protection and autonomy into the system design.
Successful engineering team leads possess technical knowledge in the group's discipline as well as the leadership and communication skills needed to interact with engineers and the broader Millennium organization (Programs, Manufacturing, Mission Operations, HR, Recruiting, etc.).

Responsibilities
- Manage team of ~6-12 engineers
- Motivate and support team members
- Work with company leadership to resolve issues and challenges relating to effective team execution
- Advocate for the team
- Communicate company goings-on, higher level decisions, events as required to the team
- Escalate matters to Director or HR as required.
- Provide regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports
- Provide formal feedback and raise requests per company guidelines
- Facilitate IR&D and process improvement initiatives with subject matter experts
- Define the overall team charter and set company strategy for Mission & Autonomy
- Team task management
- Resource allocation
- Scheduling
- Planning/Forecasting
- Involved in technical review in the areas of Autonomy with support from SMEs
- Promote knowledge sharing by facilitating lunch and learns and peer reviews
- Learn from mistakes/discrepancies and improve engineering process
- Provide and/or facilitate technical mentorship
- Define organizational workflow and promote efficiency
- Identify resources gaps
- Support team with necessary infrastructure
- Organize and conduct phone screens and first round interviews
- Identify future business needs and hire accordingly
- Keep customers, PMs, & Engr Leadership apprised of high-level issues
- Assigns REA’s to programs and products
- Identify, communicate, and assist in the risk management process
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or the physical sciences / computer science
- 3 years experience in satellite design and/or operation
- 1-2 years experience as a project or team lead, or equivalent experience managing complex systems
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in satellite design and/or operation
- Experience defining satellite & constellation CONOPS
- Experience with satellite fault & autonomy
- Experience with satellite end-to-end testing
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing
- Possess TS/SCI clearance

Summary Pay-Range
- Level K: $147,050 - $216,250
