Mission System Test Engineer

Engineering - El Segundo, CA - Full Time

As a Mission System Test Engineer, you will be working on a variety of government and commercial space-related projects. Your responsibilities will span integrating, testing, and delivering complete mission systems, bridging the gap between our customers' needs for data and Millennium Space providing on-orbit solutions. This position requires some domestic travel to support various planning and testing events, as directed by the customer.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify system integration and test activities involving multiple levels of integration (segments and elements), environmental testing, and final flight check out oversight
  • Develop test plan documentation, create and update requirements verification matrix
  • Direct, manage, and schedule all integrated testing activities for multiple segments, for example, space, ground, interconnecting networks, and mission data processing
  • Direct and manage all engineering support staff for space and ground segment testing, readiness reviews, technical investigations, Customer product compliance briefings in support of system verification and delivery, management of all system test activities and data closeout reports

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering or physical science discipline
  • 5-8 years experience managing senior-level engineering activities of space segment and/or ground segments and deployed space operation-related activities
  • Experience working in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of satellite, ground, or non-space operational environments
  • Well-organized, able to prioritize and manage several activities in parallel
  • Familiarity with space mission rehearsals, operational training, and emulators
  • Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering or physical science discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with pre-launch activities and launch campaigns of satellites
  • Working knowledge of typical spacecraft subsystems and supporting ground segment infrastructure
  • Prior experience with DoD space-based experiment campaigns
